Here’s the track list of the soundtrack of Beginners, the upcoming drama movie directed by Mike Mills and starring Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer and Melanie Laurent:
The original score work, “Beginner’s Suite”, was a true collaboration, mostly between Dave Palmer and Roger Niell, with Brian Reitzel. I remember trying to get something with the romanticism and dreaminess of a George Delarues score, but building it with the more simple notes and harmonies of Jelly Roll Morton’s “Buddy Bertrand’s Blues”. I don’t know if this really made any sense to Dave and Roger, but it’s a great experience watching them try things, taking turns on the piano, each suggesting this note not that one, a real transformative blend of Dave’s deep knowledge of blues piano and Roger’s classical ear, with Brian’s great instincts as all around band leader and producer — all recorded on a beautiful old Bluezner stand up piano that was a favorite of Henry Mancini’s.

But could you please tell me the name of the piece of violin music played in the Movie Beginners. It doesn’t seem to be included on the cd. I thought it was strinquartet 2 from Beethoven, but I can’t find it.
Dear Stemerdink,
I think the piece you’re looking for is J.S. Bach, Cello Suite n. 1 (Prelude). Enjoy!

Hello! I was wondering what the name of the Trumpet (French Horn?) song that was played. I have heard it before, and I can’t find it anywhere! It’s driving me insane! If anyone happens to know the name of this song, that would be wonderful! Thank you!! :D :D :D
Ok nvm! I apologize. I had assumed that the Bach Suite was referring to the Cello prelude! Sorry that I just glanced over it without listening to it!! :P
Does anyone know the name of the last piece, a piano solo, during the credits?
It is Sweet Jazz Music written by Joesph Ferdinand Morton – very very catchy piece of jazz
Who was the trumpet player on the Bach piece? His ornamenting is incredible!
alison balsom trumpet Bach’s Concerto In C Minor
Who is the musician playing the solo piano piece when it flashed back to him as a kid and he is slowing te record down with his finger? Good jazz music. Would like to have the record.
Juels,
The piece you want to know is Bach’s Concerto in D minor BWV 974 – Adagio.
