:)
There’s an orchestral/piano piece during the movie, without giving away too many details, its shown during the montage on the projector, I’m sure its not part of the movie’s soundtrack, they play it twice actually (or maybe even three times)
@andy, I actually found it, but I’m not sure if its the same one you were looking for, its called danse macabre by Camille Saint-Saëns, very easy to find on youtube, hope I helped.
I noticed there was a piece I think by Eric Satie.
It does not seem to be included on the theme album.
It’s at 1h 40min 55 s in film as Melies is burning his props.
It’s definitely ” Gnossiennes” but No 1 = “Lent”
Thank you so much, david, for your post. I was trying to track down that particular piece and although I know it well, I just couldn’t come up with a name. I’m thrilled to have it! I have two recordings of it in my collection. Mercis! Mercis!
Oh great! it has been many time looking for this piece, Friday night, while seeing Hugo in the Cinema i was completely shocked when i listen to this piece in the film, ’cause i listened a time before, but i didn’t know the composer, not the name, nothing! and now finally I find it, thank you very much!
How amazing!! How a small piece of music can have such an impact on us!! I had the exact same experience in the cinema when that specific piece came on!! It’s beautifull!! Been looking for it for a while and coming here I realised more people were on the same boat!! Thank you David!!
love the move and soundtrack ~ soundtrack under the Christmas tree, CHECK!!!

I’m looking to find the name of that piano/classical piece myself. Anyone who knows its name, I’d greatly appreciate it.

What orchestra plays the music?
I’m looking for the name of the song played during the credits of the movie, French lyrics, can anyone help?
